Tattoo regrets? Don’t go to extremes…
Tattoo regrets? Don’t go to extremes…
Let’s be honest, we’ve all been hooked on the Bodyshockers series, and people’s tattoo mistakes hold a special fascination. Whether it’s the weird and wonderful designs people choose to have inked all over them, or the extremes they will go to in order to get rid of them, there’s something strangely captivating about the world of tattoos.
Wedding belles
One particularly enthralling story on Bodyshockers was that of Ruth, 26, who wanted her tattoo removed in order to look good on her wedding day. The tattoo covered a large portion of her upper chest and Ruth wanted to be able to wear a low-cut wedding dress without fear of embarrassment, so she decided to take drastic action and have her tattoo surgically removed.
Scar tissue
The procedure involves making an incision down the middle of Ruth’s tattoo, literally cutting away some of the pattern, then stitching the skin back together. The specialist performing the procedure estimates that several sessions will be needed in order to remove the tattoo completely, as the skin needs to be given time to stretch into its new position in between treatments.
Of course, apart from the risks inherent in any major surgical procedure, one major disadvantage of this method of tattoo removal is that Ruth will be left with an unsightly scar in place of her tattoo.
